International management Institute (IMI) New Delhi Interview experience,2016

Hey all,This is the first time I'm blogging about an experience, comments would be appreciated.
While I looked for articles on this topic,I didn't find any.So here I am to tell you about my experience.

After clearing CAT 2015,the biggest hurdle of all(Probably),I filled out the application for IMI Delhi on Jan 25 on the insistence of a close friend.I was called to IMI New Delhi campus for further rounds on February 20,2016 at 2 PM.
On reaching, the hall had about 8 panels with 7-8 participants each .Each panel sat on chairs neatly arranged in a row one after the other. The faculty members came and handed us our IDs with panel number and candidate number. Then Came the presentation about IMI,given by their head (forgetting his name here, sorry :P ) and he walked us all through the legacy of IMI.

There were two rounds-WAT and PI.Extempore round was included in the PI.

For Written Aptitude Test(WAT),a girl was called to pick up a chit that contained the topic. Our topic was "Marriage is a redundant institution".We were given 10 minutes to present an essay of not more than 200 words. As I did not prepare for anything,I used what my fifth grade teacher taught me about essays " Past-Reason,Present situation and Future-Questions".I started out with the need for families in the human society, and went on to outline positive and negative changes that have been witnessed.I topped it all off with possible future arrangements. The entire tone of my essay was neutral.Having good communication skills made it easy for me to directly start writing at once, but some people around me carefully thought and planned it out before they started writing on the paper. It totally depends on a person's thought process.I reread my essay and corrected some obvious errors and handed it over.

Next came the document verification part, after which we were sent to interview panels.
I had heard that the panels were against engineering grads, and people with no work ex. will have a hard time so I braced myself for it.My name was called and i entered the cabin.
It began with the usual introduction.I paused and the faculty asked me to go on.I said I value your time as well as mine sir,I'm done.A panel member asked me if my background(which happens to be business background) the sole reason why I want to pursue an MBA.I smiled and replied affirmatively, and reasoned that I majored in engineering so background did not have a significant influence on me,but yes I often get told I have those managerial genes :D. He smiled and asked me what would I want to do after MBA.I replied that I'd like to reduce the huge wastage of resources in the IT sector and produce some usable work, not just outsourced assignments.Next question was about how a GPS system works.Even though it wasn't from my branch,I knew the answer and explained. The only mistake I made was using jargon, which confused the panel member and I had to clarify. He tried to point out fallacies in my explanation but there wasn't any,the terms being polysemous.I cleared that out as I knew it in and out. They looked disappointed and I was asked about my hobbies.Upon seeing music in my resume,My extempore topic was Indian classical Music(which I happen to know way too deeply).I spoke for two minutes about its therapeutic properties.I was asked to leave after that.I thanked them and left, thinking why I used jargon. The overall experience was good, and I wasn't nervous at all since an MBA was more of a backup plan for me.
The results came out on April 142016,I converted all three specializations :).

IIT Kanpur MBA Interview experience 2016

H ello. Trying to blog about an experience isn't my forte , comments would be appreciated. While I looked for articles on this topic, I didn't find anything useful. So here I am to tell you about my experience. I write CAT 2015 in November and my result was quite a shock (dont ask why)!!.I knew my chances were bleak, but something in me whispered to fill out the application forms. I filled out the MBA form for IITK &  was called to IITK Campus for further rounds on April 3,2016 at 2 PM. Upon reaching, the first hall we had to report to had busy student coordinators handing out the checklist. They also offered to help with photocopies and other last minute stuff, which showed how meticulously they took their work. After the checklist, I was sent to another room where all my documents and mark sheets were verified, percentages recalculated and submitted. I was allotted a number and a panel. After this, we were escorted to a conference hall where the briefing abo

5 new ways to drape your dupatta and scarves this year!

Hey all, attempting my first fashion related post,Do let me know how is it in comments. Scarves are a cheap yet chic way to add an oomph to an everyday outfit, and can be worn in winters as well as summers. It is important to pick a scarf in the way you want to wear it,whether it means picking a scarf as the star and building an outfit around it,or realizing you need to fix a malfunction (pee-a-boo) and add a drape to soften the look. The fabric, print and the color affect how each knot looks,so play around. I scourged through Pinterest one lazy afternoon, and here are my best picks. 1: The half bow: Effortless and sexy.Works well for long as well as short scarves. Five best Open source (and FREE ) software you should be using already!!

For those of you who do not know what Free and Open Source software is,Google is your friend. [Free = Free speech and not Free Beer]. Its okay, you can read this article without any prior knowledge of open source. All software listed below are free to download,or at least try.Keep in mind that the latest isn't always the best, sometimes going down a version or two can really help with the stability. It may require a little breaking into the new shoes, but the output is definitely worth it.This is not to say that all proprietary software is useless, but its good to know that we have alternatives. 1: No License for Microsoft office?  Use LibreOffice,KOffice or OpenOffice Instead. Its free, stable and has more features and add-ins.Explore before you give up and thank me later 2: Use GIMP ( GNU Image Manipulation Tool)  to "Photoshop" your Photoshop woes.Again, stick with it,you'll be rewarded. And check out Blender if you're into modelling and animation. 3:What??
